YOUNG ACTIVISTS SUMMIT
The summit will be held on 10 December 2019, Human Rights Day, in the highly symbolic Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
Organized by the United Nations Office at Geneva, Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) and dev.tv, this event will bring together six young female activists whose inspiring backgrounds and achievements should be shared.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad will be the guest of honour of the first YOUNG ACTIVISTS SUMMIT (YAS), whose theme this year is WOMEN AND GIRLS DRIVING PROGRESS.
Room XX | 10 December | 10h00-11h30
The youth session is reserved for 15 to 25-year-olds. Young people attending this session will be able to debate with the six invited activists. The debates will be moderated in French by journalist and presenter of Swiss Television (RTS), Tania Chytil. Free entrance upon registration, limited number of seats.
Room XX | 10 December | 16h30-18h00
The Award ceremony will be presented and moderated by Heba Aly, director of the news agency The New Humanitarian. Each activist will receive an award specially handcrafted by Geneva designer Philippe Cramer. Free entrance upon registration, limited number of seats. Registration is mandatory, including for UN badge holders. The day will conclude with a reception at hotel InterContinental from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm.
IHEID, Maison de la Paix | 11 December
Working sessions with experts and consultants will be held at the Graduate Institute Geneva on 11 December to empower the activists and strengthen their action with practical knowledge and technical tools. These sessions are not open to the public.
