Expanding access to better cancer care

About

Eve Yee Leng is a health equity advocate from Singapore working to make care for cancer and other non-communicable diseases more accessible. Her journey began when her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer when Eve was 12. Supporting her through seven years of treatment, before her mother passed away, exposed Eve to both the possibilities of modern medicine and the inequalities in who can access them. This experience drove her to develop accessible healthcare technologies, with a particular focus on improving cancer diagnosis and treatment in underserved communities across Southeast Asia.

‍

Work

Eve brought together more than 300 young people across 45 countries to create Immunova AI, an open-source platform that helps predict patients’ responses to cancer immunotherapy. She has collaborated with young people internationally to develop other accessible healthcare tools, including a resource-efficient model for accessible brain tumour diagnosis and an accessible and personalised fertility care platform. Beyond technology, Eve contributes to international policy discussions on health and access, advocating for young people and those most affected by health inequalities to have a greater voice in decision-making.
