Ocean conservation and climate protection

About

Finlay Pringle is a Scottish marine conservation campaigner, climate change activist and Sea Shepherd Shark Ambassador. Sharks are his all-time favorite marine creature, and he’s passionate about protecting them as they are under serious threat worldwide.

Finlay was the first young person in the UK to join the Fridays For Future (FFF) movement and began school striking every Friday from December 2018. Since then, he has become a fervent advocate for ocean protection, raising awareness on global stages.

Work

Finlay Pringle has led many successful marine conservation campaigns. In 2020, he launched a national movement to ban shark fin soup in UK restaurants. This effort contributed to the introduction of the Shark Fins Act, which bans the import and export of all products containing shark fins.

Finlay has created global teaching resources on sharks and climate change, which have been used by over 10,000 schools to date. He continues to campaign against marine plastic pollution resulting in the removal of over 12 tons of plastic from Scottish beaches.
