Sustainable farming & climate resilience

About

Louise Mabulo is a Chef, Farmer, and Entrepreneur from the Philippines. Following the December 2016 super typhoon, Nock-Ten, which displaced a thousand homes and destroyed 80% of the agricultural land in Louise’s town, she launched the Cacao Project, an initiative that helps local farmers build climate-smart and disaster-resilient livelihoods, thereby reducing their dependence on favorable weather conditions.

Work

The Cacao Project aims to shorten the gap between farming production and consumption, ensuring that their work benefits both people and the planet.

They provide farmers with cacao seedlings and training to responsibly and sustainably produce cacao beans at a quality standard. To date, they have worked with over 200 farmers, planted more than 150,000 trees, and reforested at least 160 hectares of land.
