Peacebuilding

About

Maimouna Ba is a humanitarian and peace builder from Burkina Faso. She lives in Dori, a town that is now home to thousands of civilians who were forced to flee the atrocities perpetrated by violent armed groups. Since the security crisis broke out in 2016, Maimouna has assisted many vulnerable people from the Sahel region. Her commitment stems from her family’s own suffering after escaping the Yirgou massacre that killed 210 people in 2019.

Work

Maimouna Ba teamed up with a group of young women from the Sahel region, to create an organization called Women for Dignity in the Sahel, which is dedicated to supporting women and children displaced by violent extremism in Burkina Faso. They educate children affected by conflicts, offer psychological support, empower women through income-generating activities, and ensure access to healthcare for children and pregnant women.
