Maung Sawyeddollah
Rohingya people’s rights
About
At 16, Maung Sawyeddollah fled Myanmar to escape the atrocities perpetrated against the Rohingya people, settling in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, where more than one million Rohingya refugees have taken shelter. Maung founded the Rohingya Student Network, a platform for young Rohingya students to unite and fight for their community’s rights. Maung advocates for better living conditions in camps, hosts youth workshops for community empowerment, and links refugees with international courts for justice.
Work
Maung Sawyeddollah is actively involved in campaigns to bring those responsible for crimes against the Rohingya to justice. He has engaged with the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ). He is also a plaintiff in a lawsuit against Meta, which he alleges helped facilitate the spread of hate speech and misinformation that contributed to the violence against the Rohingya people.
