Providing education to refugees

About

Mohamad Al Jounde fled from Syria to Lebanon where he lived in a refugee camp from the age of 12. With no school to attend, he founded one of his own. Gharsah School in the Beqaa Valley supports roughly 240 children and 500 women every year through education, psychosocial and civil empowerment.

Work

Today, Mohamad Al Jounde is based in Sweden where he launched an NGO – Gharsah Sweden – that supports child education and raises funds for the Gharsah School in Lebanon.

As a skilled filmmaker, he is also finding ways to use games and photography to help children heal and learn while amplifying their stories. Leveraging his expertise and personal journey, he inspires them to express their emotions and work through difficult experiences using visual arts.
