Mohamed Nazri Prem Nasir
Preventing child abuse through education
About
Mohamed Nazri is a children’s rights and education advocate from Malaysia. Growing up in a low-income family, his parents encouraged him to see education as a path to greater opportunities, and he became the first in his family to attend university. His commitment to child protection is also deeply personal: having experienced abuse as a child, he understands how difficult it can be for children to seek help. These experiences drove him to found Bina Malaysia, using education to expand opportunities and help keep children safe.
Work
Through Bina Malaysia, Mohamed Nazri mobilises nearly 500 volunteers and has reached more than 11,000 people through educational and community programmes. His flagship initiative, Project Lindung (“Protect”), teaches children to recognise unsafe situations, understand personal boundaries and know how to seek help. He also created Malaysia’s first multilingual child-grooming awareness storybook, translated into ten languages and distributed across Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries.
