Nisreen Elsaim
Climate action for peace
About
Nisreen is a dedicated climate activist and advocate for peace in Sudan. She was active during the December Revolution, the uprising against the Omar al-Bashir regime, and regularly engages with third parties in a joint effort to halt conflicts and reinstate peace and civic rule in the region. Following the eruption of the 2023 Sudanese conflict, Nisreen created a mobile emergency room to support Sudanese refugees across various camps in Uganda and launched a campaign to purchase sanitation pads for Sudanese women and girls in the camps.
Work
As natural resources are becoming increasingly scarce, Nisreen also advocates for the need to invest in renewable energies, which will help prevent future conflicts.
She currently creates English and Arabic language climate change advocacy content that is accessible to blind and deaf people. Her project aims to promote climate literacy and advocacy globally, ensuring equal access to information and resources for action on this critical issue.
Nisreen was short-listed for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.
